I have really been loving running my own business. I haven’t grown the business large enough to have many employees, but I have a few so far. I’ll address growth in the future when that happens. I have explained to each of my employees that this is my first time doing this, and to please hang in there while I learn so many things. So far, so good. For example, one of them asked me for a paystub, and I had no idea how to do it. So, I looked online and found a paystub generator site where I could just punch in my employee’s information and it generated a paystub for me right on the spot. Luckily, the employee was good natured about it my original naivety!
I guess you could say that I am no a born leader. I have always been sort of a hermit who likes to stay behind the scenes. This is very much to the chagrin of my parents who are both very social and they simply do not understand why I am not as a well. Shyness is not my problem, I know that much. I have no trouble communicating with pretty much anyone I speak to, the issue is that I simply do not like leading other people all that much and I like to spend time alone. Spending time along helps me to feel more energized. So, it has been very interesting to need to come out of my hermit shell to lead employees.
Because we are all part of such a small company, it has been nice to know that my employees really get me. They know that I am still learning. If I were to apply to a large company just a year ago, I doubt anyone would have hired me as a manager since I did no have enough experience. I love learning everything now, though.
